Sleep paralysis, for the purpose of this article, is simply what happens to you at night and it feels as if a power stronger than you, comes to sit on or lie down on you to the point of almost choking you to death and every effort you might want to put in to talk or pray, will be in vain as you cannot use your voice or mouth again till the 'attack' is over then, you will find your voice again and some Christians end up shouting "Jesus". During this so called attack, you are conscious of your environment and sometimes see your room, the wall of your room and even realize that you are lying down in the same position that you are with your eyes wide open. You may or may not see your attacker and you may also hear voices or music in the environment before the attack.  A lot of Africans especially Nigerians have attributed this attack to close relatives in the village who they believe, are using witchcraft to torment them at night.
